Alex update...

Alex got his stitches out today and he’ doing great. I don’t have a photo without the stitiches but here’s one with his stitches still in, you cant really tell they're there. It’s so nice to see him back to normal. Now he can rub his little face into the carpet or grass and get all spunky. Fills my heart.

I’m working on a couple of knitting projects right now. First, I finished my fingerless gloves and I’m really enjoying them.

Now I’m working on a sweater for Alex, I have started it 4 x’s now and am a bit frustrated but I'm determine. The very first project I every started (about 8 years ago) was a sweater for Alex poor thing, I had no idea what I was doing, in order for him to wear it he would have had to lay flat on the ground with his front legs extended away from his body, I totally had the leg holes in the wrong place. So then a couple of weeks ago I ripped it out and started a new one. Well, that one didn’t turn out very well either so once again I ripped it out. So now i'm on the 3rd one which I miss understood the directions, I started at the neck and was knitting in the round WRONG! so I ripped it out and now have this...

the directions were to start at the tail and work up the back and at about 1/3 of the way you start knitting in the round. I’m at the arm holes now but am a bit lost so I’m going to meet with a friend next week and see if I can get some help.

I’m also working on another pair of socks, I have the write amount of stitches so they will fit my calf. I’m loving the ribbing on this one thanks to Patti for telling me about this pattern.

Oh, and I did something I’ve never done before, I made biscotti's! They turned out so great and really were very easy to make. To be honest, I cant remember the last time I even baked something. I took them for a tea party my friend Caitlin had. It was a very nice time and my biscotti's were a hit.

Home with my pup

Alex and I are back from Spokane where he had his surgery. It was difficult for both of us. Broke my heart to see him go though what he had to go though but Dr. Yakely at the Animal Eye Clinic and his technician Debbie where amazing. They were so wonderful to both Alex and myself. They let me be with Alex up until his surgery, I was able to hold him when they gave him the sedative again when they gave him the anesthesia and even when they put the little breathing tube down his throat. Then after the surgery they brought him to my all wrapped up in a warm blanket so I could hold him while he came out of the anesthesia.

Here’s a picture of my baby before and after....

Earlier this year.

Alex just arrived home laying on top of mommy still so sleepy.

The next day, he looks like he's not feeling well and so sad.

I don’t have a photo with the bandages off yet.

The one thing I hadn't anticipated was that he would become depressed. It broke my heart watching him have no smile that is until today or should I say late this afternoon. I finally found something he would eat (he hadn't been eating) he wolfed down cottage cheese of all things. After he ate he actually wanted to play, it filled my heart to see him getting his spunk back and his smile.

I thought I would get a lot of knitting done while I was East of the mountains and I did start a sweater for Alex but it looks to small so I’m going to rip it out and start over, until then Alex will just have to wear one of his store bought sweaters.

Keeping up

Seems like I haven't done a very good job with posting lately. I've been extremely busy with things like, finishing up a contract web job, working on my new website (to be announced later), making beads, making jewelry and the dreaded Taxes.

Saturday Alex and I leave for Spokane, he's scheduled for surgery on Monday so we're heading out a few day's early to go hang with my friend Terri. I'll be glad when this is all over. it's hard to watch him get all spunky and goes to rub his head into the carpet and then he yelps because he hurt his eye. or when we go to bed and Dan or myself accidentally bump his eye (it's only happened a couple of time but to me that's a couple of times to many). and then there a those days when you can tell Alex is just not feeling so well. anyway, it will be good when it's all over.

I haven't had much time to knit but last night I finally said "enough of all this other stuff I'm going to knit" it was so nice to just sit and knit, I wish I could find more time for it. I'm almost done with my fingerless gloves and am excited to start on my new project... a sweater for Alex. I've had the yarn for a couple of years and even started one for him but the leg placement was a little off, poor dog, he would have to lay flat with his legs straight out the sides.

Another Day Another Yarn

Ha, bet that got your attention. Tt really should read "another day another website" that's what I've been working on all day trying to finish up some websites that I've been working on and I'm happy to say THERE DONE! now I just need to get paid for them.
oh but wait... I'm still working on one site that I haven't even started and need to have done by tomorrow. It's my website or at least another website for me. I have neatobeado.com but I bought the domain essentialvessel.com for my vessel line which I want to have separate from neatobeado. I really want to get those vessels out in the market place. they really are wonderful, you put essential oil in them and then ware them. the aroma come up through the cork and you get these wonderful whiff of aroma. I have them in a shop here in town and they are doing great so it's time to hit the market place big time (well, as big as I can manage to keep up with (did that make sense?))

on the knitting front...
I'm about a 1/4 of the way done with my second glove and cant wait to get a chance to sit and knit some more. oh, and I found this great website last night (when I should of been working)it's called Cast-On it's a podcast for knitters. I only got a chance to listen to the first two episodes but what I heard I enjoyed. fun to listen to someone tell you stories and play fun music while you knit.

on the Alex front...
I made his doctors appointment for April 17th, I'll be driving to Spokane (ya, along way to go for a vet but it's worth it $$ wise) and I'll be staying with my friend Terri (a wonderful potter!) who lives in Ritzville. I'm looking forward to spending some time with her AND she's the best cook, so I'll get to eat some yummy food.

better get back to work, need to get that site done.

Happy April

Wow, I am so glad that March is over, it has been a difficult month, it's been one thing after another. I’m counting on April to bring good things into my life. One of the big issues has been my little Alex becoming sick and needing surgery.

isnt he the cutest???

Alex is the love of my life, I don’t have children but he has filled that space. Alex developed glaucoma (over night) and needs his eye removed. This has been heart breaking but it’s what he needs. One of the other worries is the fact that he’s 13 and to undergo such a major surgery is scary but when the vet called with his pre-op blood test results she said she’s never seen results so good (more than good), for a dog his age. I’m going to head out to Spokane for the surgery it’s 1/2 the price if I head out there and when I say 1/2 the price I’m talking about saving $400.00. I have a friend out there that I can stay with and it will be nice to get to visit with her. We’ll be heading for Spokane end of next week.

Dealing with all this has been difficult and to top it off our cat Shiva who's 18 became deathly ill, we thought we were going to loose her but after a trip to the vet and antibiotic she’s back to her old self, if we can just get some weight on her.

On the knitting front...

I’ve been having a great time knitting up my hand died yarn, I have enjoyed it so much I’ve already started on the second glove. I actuly started off making sock’s but 1/2 way through I realized that it wouldn't be a bit tight over my calf so I decided to turn it into a glove. I’m one of those who almost never gets the second one of anything done, the second sock, the second glove. I get board using the same yarn but for some odd reason that’s not the case using yarn I died myself, I’m excited about every stitch. Here’s a photo of the first glove.
